Adopt and Element
During the class of Chemistry and Agriscience, the learning objectives were to become familiar with: atomic structure, the Periodic Table and an agricultural use of an element from this table. Skills and knowledge acquired in this project is valuable to my future because I will need to do a lot of similar science. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for Chemistry and Agriscience had the following learning objectives, become familiar with: atomic structure, the Periodic Table and an agricultural use of an element from this table, a project named as adopt and element. What I learned about the atomic structure includes what are the particles, how they work, what they do, and how they make new elements. What I learned about the Periodic Table includes the elements that are in the world, what we use them as, when scientists are making new with them, and how they were created. What I learned the agricultural use of the elements includes the use of them in the real world, how the police force use them to help with the case they are working with, and many more.
The assignment or project was an adopt and element and required me to pick an element that I will be writing an essay on the agricultural uses of it and how I can make a product out of it. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with picking an element witch was Oxygen. Then I had to write an essay about, I think it had to be a 250 word essay, after that I wrote a slogan with an advertisement on a product that had to do with it. Throughout this process listed above, I have realized I have learned or grown in the following ways, writing better and bigger essays, finding info, and making an advertisement of a basic or “Useless” material. These link back to the project goals/learning objectives by showing I have done the following things: become familiar with: atomic structure, the Periodic Table and an agricultural use of an element from this table. This tells me the following about myself and how I learn to use the periodic table.
I have demonstrated this first SLO, Thinking critically and creatively in this project by having to think about what I am going to write, where to write it, and how to create Oxygen into an advertisement. This is important because I will most likely get little to no info on a setan project and learn what more I can find and use. The next SLO have demonstrated is Mastering skills needed in career and college in this project by using college level writing and usage in the essay. This is important because if I can use college level wording in 10th grade, then I can be better in college. I could have improved my work on this project by: being A self Directed learner who communicates effectively.
One thing I would like to improve upon for my next artifact project is the advertisement. One thing I would change if I had a chance to do this project over again would be the amount of words. One thing that I have seen in the classmates' work or process that I would like to try is using google sides to show my project. One goal I would like to set up for myself for my next project is the info I will need. Overall this project/unit was beneficial to my learning in Humanities because I helped my creativity.
